The black gunpowder leaf is carefully processed into small black pellets by hand and according to tradition by experienced tea experts. The leaves are withered, steamed, rolled, and then dried. The name "gunpowder" comes from the resemblance to the black powder used in guns. Production of gunpowder tea goes as far back as the Tang Dynasty, 618-907 A.D. This leaf presents a pleasantly aromatic, mild and full-bodied taste with a very slight smoky note.
