ACR-22 is an oil-based candy color designed for food items. It's been developed to deliver superior color quality, even on high-fat and oil products like dark and white chocolate, compound chocolate and candy coating, and high-ratio buttercream icing. Unlike cake colorings, which are water-based and can potentially ruin your candy, ACR-22 is safe for use. For darker colors, start with a colored candy coating before adding ACR-22. For instance, to achieve royal blue, begin with blue candy coating and then add blue candy color, rather than adding it to white coating. Excess coloring can impart a bitter taste and stain teeth. When adding color, the candy may thicken, requiring the addition of paramount crystals.
